It's been a wonderful Sunday...after church we dropped Shanna and a couple friends off at the mall for a movie and lunch. Russell and I had Round Table pizza and spent the afternoon watching old Mash reruns (rented from Netflix with no commercial interruptions) and several hours on the deck reading and listening to the birds. We've had some abnormally hot (95-105 degree) weather here in Portland and tonight, we had a rain shower and it's cooling down. I'm more of an Oregonian that I thought as I was really excited to see the rain. I'm so thankful that we have air conditioning. A beautiful sunset with some thunder clouds in the distance from our front porch tonight.
The sermon at church today was about serving.... everybody can serve. Pastor George pointed out that many people, myself included, feel like we're not talented enough, don't have enough time, are fearful or afraid to commit - there are a thousand excuses to not serve and give back. So, I signed up (www.coolchurch.com) to facilitate a women's life/study group. This is one of those times in my Christian life when I feel like the Lord is pushing me to do this, even though I feel inadequate and fearful, but I'm taking a leap of faith and trusting that the Lord will catch me. My goal for a women's life group would be to share and pray with each other about being mothers, wives, Christian women, employees and employers and whatever other roles we have in our lives; and to hold each other up and accountable as we face daily life. I know that sounds like a lot to ask from a group but I believe that God can and will bless such a group.
Thanks to those of you who took the time to stop and take a peak at my blog...it's a work in progress...like me and I look forward to getting your comments.
