Don't you just love Friday afternoons...the promise of two days off...sleeping in. It's hotter than Hades here today...100 degrees in Portland is rare and we don't handle the heat really well. I'm so very thankful for air conditioning. My sweetie is a UPS driver and let me tell you those trucks don't come with AC...so by the time he gets home, he'll be ready to hang out to dry...I stopped and got him a Dairy Queen...a cool treat for him.
I've been pondering a blog for quite awhile...reading other people's blogs is part of my everyday...I have several in my Favorites file...Ali Edwards, Stacy Julian, Cathy Zieleske...all "scrap artists" and women I admire. I love Confessions of a Pioneer Woman - who wouldn't love Charlie (the basset hound), Marlboro Man, her gorgeous photography and a peek into a life that I know nothing about. I guess that's why blogs are so popular...they give us a glimpse into someone else's life and sometimes, if you're lucky, their words will strike a chord, make you laugh or cry and you're hooked.
So maybe in my effort to put my thoughts and feelings down, someone in this big huge cyber world will understand what I'm thinking and feeling and respond...if not, it's free therapy. I would like to be a "journaler" in the traditional sense...writing my thoughts in a journal but I'm much more comfortable with a keyboard - you should see all the lovely journals I have sitting on a shelf, with only a page or two written in them. My Mom kept a journal from the time she was 16 until she died and those written words are so precious to me...
The sunrise on my way to work this morning was absolutely spectacular...bright orange and purple streaking the sky with Mt. Hood and St. Helen's silhouetted against the receding night...it was a fabulous reminder of the majesty of God. Of course, my camera is sitting on my desk so I couldn't take a picture, but what a wonderful way to start my day.
This very moment is the perfect teacher and, lucky for us, it's with us wherever we are. - Pema Chodron
