I read Margie Romney-Aslett's blog and she had this post: Ask yourself...What can I do to help? about a couple who live in Arizona who were in a plane wreck...both of them have third degree burns...he over 30% of his body and the mom over 80% of hers. I can't even begin to imagine what this family is going through. They have four children under the age of six. It's hard to understand why things like this happen. Sometimes it takes a horrible tragedy like this to really make us appreciate our life for what it is...and to make changes when needed.
How often do we find ourselves complaining about something in our everyday life...perhaps a job situation, an annoying or rude person who crossed our path, the high price of gas, the messy family room that didn't get picked up... not realizing how fortunate we are to have those annoying things in our life. I'm sure that this couple would like to be dealing with any one of many life issues and annoyances that we have complained about just this week. I pray that God will be with this couple and their families, comfort them, give them release from the unimaginable pain they are suffering. I pray that I will stop and be thankful for what I have...for the irritating annoyances in my life and that I have the opportunity to experience them...that I will be gracious and kind instead of being rude and angry...and I will also ask myself...what can I do to help?
Great post today Kathryn! How often do we say "poor me" for such petty little things, when we should be saying how blessed we are!
