It's been a week since I posted...and what a week it's been. I got home last Tuesday night and was sitting at my computer, paying bills and heard this huge crash. Russell's model railroad takes up two walls in our craft room (picture to the left). Mounted on the wall next to the TV on a shelf is our DVR and DVD Player. The shelf fell, along with the DVR and DVD Player, onto Russell's layout and crushed three of his models. To put this into perspective...if you're a scrapper, it would be like having water dumped on an album full of layouts. These three models took him about 120 hours to build, paint, weather and accessorize and each cost in the $75-$120 range. Because I was in the room when it happened, I was able to "minimize" the damage and save the electronics and some of this models. Oh my goodness, telling him about this accident made me cry...he is into his hobby as much as I am into my scrapping.
The buyout of my company by Natus was completed on Wednesday and we were introduced to our new benefit package....I will have less vacation and sick time (until I've been there for five years) so that was a little discouraging. I worked overtime nearly every day last week...plus ran Shanna around to her saxophone lesson, pit orchestra practices, and life group. She was PMSing...always a delight!
My new women's life group that I volunteered to host on Thursday nights started last week. Despite my misgivings and nerves, it went really well. We spent the evening getting to know each other, sharing prayer requests and passing out the new study...Living Right When Life Goes Wrong. It was amazing to discover how much we all had in common and that we all shared a desire for closer relationships with other Christian women.
By the time Friday rolled around, I was so exhausted, I was nearly sick...so I came home and had planned to sit and read for a few minutes...only to fall asleep for a couple of hours. I have problems with insomnia, so my nap, while wonderful, resulted in me being up on Friday night until 3:30 am...so my wonderful husband got up early and took Shanna to her Drivers Ed class.
While I was up...not sleeping on Friday night, I uploaded photos to Costco. I usually use scrapbookpictures.com but wanted to get my pictures fast and figured I could get them printed by Saturday. Not so much. Costco has changed their upload interface and it took several hours...each time I made an adjustment on a photo (cropping, lighting, etc.), the whole thing took forever to refresh. I spent several hours Saturday morning finishing my upload only to find out they couldn't print the order until Sunday. I love having a new pile of photos
- it makes my heart happy! The good news...I did get my first two pages for Cathy Zieleske's "Design Your Life" class on BPS...my first scrapping pages in several months...it was wonderful to get back to scrapping. I've missed it. I spent some time yesterday "pre-planning" some pages, so that when I sit down to scrap next time, I'll be ready.
We had a restful weekend...we purposely made sure we didn't have any commitments (other than taking Shanna to and from her Drivers Ed class) and she was invited to stay the night at a friend house, so we had an evening alone on Saturday night and were able to catch up on our shows (I love our DVR). So...it's Monday and back to work...hopefully this will be a better week...happy Monday!
