Wow...can't believe it's been nearly two months since I've blogged...my life has been a swirling vortex the last seven weeks...and just this week, I've had a chance to slow down and catch my breath...
My place of employment was acquired by a larger company several months ago and with that comes change. Along with a new (fabulous) boss, my job is changing...more responsibility, which is exciting (and somewhat scary). My new responsibilities require me to learn new software programs, travel a bit, etc. So I've been working more overtime...add to that a very busy, involved teenager without a drivers license who needs transportation to her various activities, keeping my home and family together while my husband works 12 hour days...and you have my life the last two months. Russell and I have been on vacation this last week and we've done virtually nothing...we're both exhausted, physically and mentally, and were so ready for a break from life.
Shanna has one more week of Drivers Education class left (she's been going every Saturday from 9 to noon for the last nine weeks) and after this class, will be able to get her drivers license...once she meets our criteria. I have such mixed feelings about her getting her drivers license...it's a rite of passage for a teenager, and marks another large step towards independence. I will be glad to not have to run her to all her activities, but there's that feeling inside, as her Mom, that she's not quite ready...actually, it's my own fears for her safety that I'm battling.
Russell and I celebrated our 26th wedding anniversary on November 20. Actually, it's difficult to celebrate an anniversary or any special occasion when you're both working so many hours, so we put off the actual celebration until this week. Since we were on vacation this whole week, we took Monday and had lunch, went to the zoo to check up on the baby elephant, did some shopping and just enjoyed being together.
I have so much to be thankful for...a wonderful husband who loves and accepts me just the way I am...we have a fabulous, fun, loving marriage and share a love that most couples only dream of. I'm thankful for our Shanna girl...she challenges us, makes us laugh and always makes us proud of her as she lives her Christianity every day. I'm in awe of her musical and artistic talent. I'm thankful that Russell and I both have good jobs, that pay well and provide us with good benefits. I'm thankful for good friends and for the wonderful women in my life group, I'm thankful for our home...that we have one, and that it's my sanctuary from life...
Blogging and scrapping are both creative outlets and I've missed doing both of them these last two months...but I'm back doing both again...I'll share some of my pages soon...it's good to be back.
