Our daughter, Shanna, is a confirmed electronics junky. She got her first IPod (with her own money) when she was 13 (the same year she got her first cell phone) and she hasn’t looked back. Her latest obsession…the Apple ITouch. Why she needs this when she has a perfectly good, less than a year-old IPod, is beyond me, but it’s her money to spend. We ordered a refurbished ITouch from Apple online and received it on Thursday. She spent several hours on Thursday evening loading it up and then…disaster. It coded out…it froze and then started scrolling codes. Of course, it’s 11 pmon Thursday night and no one at Apple is available to talk to a 16 year old about her non-functioning new whizmo. Now Shanna isn’t one to cry over most anything, yet this reduced her to tears. Not that I’m unsympathetic, but it’s an electronic gadget and I have to get up in 5 hours, so I went to bed and told her she would have to figure this out for herself. She was able to make an appointment (it was either that or send it back to Apple for replacement) at an Apple store.
So Saturday morning we drove 20 miles across town to the Apple Store at Bridgeport Village. Holy cow…this place was insane and incredibly busy. They were completely booked up for the day - all walk-in appointments were already gone! 45 minutes later, with the assistance of a geeky Apple guy, Shanna walked out with her new ITouch fixed and ready to go…happiness once again reigned in the our little family. We had lunch at our favorite Mexican restaurant, Azteca, before heading back to our side of town. We decided to go to church on Saturday night instead of our usual Sunday morning so we could stay home and sleep in.
